Clinical Trials Network and National Institute on Drug abuse (NIDA) Research Resources


In this section, the links and resources provide information pertaining to the Clinical Trials Network, National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network (CTN) established by NIDA, and databases to enable access to past and current NIDA research and investigators.

NIDA Clinical Trials Network: This site provides an overview of the National Drug Abuse CTN including the mission, a listing of regional research and training centers, and the structure as well as the policies. The site offers other links and provides information in Spanish. The section, Information for Clinicians, provides an overview of current research studies and concepts along with the name of the principle investigator. http://www.nida.nih.gov/CTN/about.html

CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects) Database: This is a searchable database of federally funded biomedical research projects. This database includes, but is not limited to, projects funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. This site enables users to search emerging research trends and techniques, research projects, and investigators. CRISP records date back to 1972. http://crisp.cit.nih.gov/

National Institute on Drug Abuse: NIDA was established in 1974, and in October 1992 it became part of the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services. The Institute is organized into divisions and offices, each of which plays an important role in programs of drug abuse research. NIDA's mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction. This website provides resources for researchers, health professionals, parents, teachers, and students.

CTN Regional Nodes of New York and Pennsylvania:

Pennsylvania

The Delaware Valley Node of the National Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network was formed in September 1999, a collaboration involving four research organizations, 11 treatment organizations and more than 50 clinical sites. Through a subcontract from the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Studies of Addiction, Treatment Research Institute and Penn faculty and staff are developing, managing, and leading a wide range of studies in a variety of community-based treatment settings. http://www.tresearch.org/tech_trans/tech_trans.htm

The New York Node of the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network under Dr. Rotrosen includes investigators from New York University, The Rockefeller University, Nathan S.
